Summer Associate Program
Welcome to Wadleigh, Starr & Peters, P.L.L.C.
We are delighted that you are considering our Summer Associate Program.
When David Taggart and George Bingham joined as partners in 1899, they started what has become one of the oldest and largest law firms in the State of New Hampshire. We take pride in our historical ties with the State of New Hampshire, the City of Manchester and in providing excellent legal services to our clients in New Hampshire and beyond. We also take pride in our strong civic ties to the community. Members of the firm volunteer their services to the community through participation in civic, charitable, and political endeavors. This tradition of public service dates back to George Bingham, who served as both a justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court and a judge of the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals. Other members of the firm have served with distinction as judges, Attorneys General, and members of the United States Congress. We draw on our vast experience and historical perspective to address the ever-shifting demands of this challenging and rewarding profession.
Our clients look to us for excellence in all areas of legal practice and for practical, results oriented representation. To serve our clients, we need people who are knowledgeable, driven, results-oriented, ethical and honest.
The Wadleigh Summer Associate Program
Our Summer Program for 2023 is full!
We begin accepting applications for 2024 in the month of August.
Our program provides law students with an overview of all of our practice areas. We do not limit summer associates to one or two practice areas, and do not limit their activities to research only. Our summer associates experience the real practice of law in a variety of areas. For example, a summer associate could attend a court case in the morning, while assisting with a real estate closing in the afternoon. The program offers the summer associate the chance to use real world experience in determining the practice area or areas that she or he may want to focus on after graduation.
We place a heavy emphasis on the summer program when hiring first year associates. About 90% of our attorneys worked here as summer associates and consequently we experience very little turnover with our associates.
The Wadleigh Associates Program is not a competition among the participants. We consider the program an opportunity for us to get to know the students, and for them to get to know us. That is why participants typically interact with every Wadleigh attorney. Every Wadleigh attorney plays an active role in planning and shaping her or his own unique legal career. We hire lawyers whom we think can be partners someday, so we give the summer associates the chance to demonstrate their skills and legal judgment to our partners and associates.
If you are interested in participating in our summer program, please submit your resume, unofficial law school transcript, and cover letter to the attention of Recruiting Partner at hr@wadleighlaw.com.
